In June 2022, Ontario Premier Doug Ford was re-elected promising to help solve the housing crisis. His promise was achievable since his majority government has control over powerful planning legislation and policies as well as having many fiscal levers that can encourage affordable family housing development at different price points and ensure reasonable rents.
